RIP PRINCE: HERE ARE 10 THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT THE RECENTLY DEPARTED STAR

The twenty first 'centurers' may not know who the star is but today CharismaSpot compiled 10 facts that will help you catch up with who he was

10 Facts you should know

1. Great Music: 100 million in worldwide album sales pretty much speaks for itself. Thirteen million of his sales are credited to Purple Rain, one of the greatest rock albums of all-time. In his thirty five year career, Prince has released thirty albums (twenty five studio albums and five soundtrack albums). He also released twelve EPs and several internet albums. During his prolific hot streak between 1979 and 1994, each of the fourteen albums he released were, at the minimum, certified gold, meaning that all of those albums sold at least 500,000 copies. Along with Michael Jackson and Madonna, Prince was one of the biggest pop stars in the world during the 1980s and early 1990s.

2. Groundbreaking Sound: Prince is credited with being the pioneer of The Minneapolis Sound, a fusion of R&B, funk, pop, New Wave and progressive rock that would later incorporate elements of New Jack Swing, metal, hip hop, synth-pop and even gospel. With so many disparate genres at work, he was able to make music that truly sounded like nothing else around. This unique sound is what made albums like Purple RainSign "O" the TimesDirty Mind and 1999 outright classics. Prince was ahead of his time, and unlike much of the music of the 1980s that now sounds dated, a lot of Prince's songs, particularly from Purple Rain, have aged very well.

3. Fashion Sense: If there were a hall of fame for fashion, Prince would surely be a first-ballot inductee. This is a man who wears high heels at almost every public  appearance. Silk and velvet suits in colors like purple or red are regulars in his wardrobe. Ruffled shirts: he's got plenty of those. Do you remember when he performed at the 1991 MTV Video Music Awards in a yellow jump suit and with a matching yellow guitar? Do you recall when he turned his back to the audience halfway through the performance, revealing his exposed butt cheeks?

4. Reinvention: Prince. Prince and the Revolution. Prince and the New Power Generation. The Artist Formerly Known as Prince. The Artist. And of course,
. There was a point where Prince seemed to come up with a new alias or backing group every few years. The repeated rebranding represented  his artistic growth. Never one to limit himself musically, whenever Prince felt the need to reinvent himself, he would change

5. Songwriting - Unsurprisingly, Prince writes all of his own material. He also wrote dozens of hit songs for others. Here are just a few hits he penned.

  • The Bangles' "Manic Monday."
  • Sheena Easton's "Sugar Walls," under the pseudonym Alexander Nevermind.
  • Sinead O'Connor's "Nothing compares 2 U", staying at #1 in many jurisdictions for weeks
  • The Time's  "Jungle Love," "Ice Cream Castles" and "The Bird," all under the pseudonym Jamie Starr.
  • Sheila E's "Glamorous Life" and "A Love Bizarre"
  • Vanity 6's "Nasty Girl"
  • Tevin Campbell's - "Round and Round"
  • MoKenStef - "He's Mine"
  • Kid Creole and the Coconuts - "For The Sex of It," under the name Paisley Park
  • Monie Love - "Born To BREED"
With the exception of "Nasty Girl" and "Ice Cream Castles," all of these songs charted in the Billboard Top 40 Pop Charts. The other two reached the R&B Top 40. All of these songs, either by lyrical content or production, have a heavy Prince influence. One listen and you know it fits his signature style. This contributed to the overall sense of ubiquity that he once had. Even the songs that weren't his felt like Prince songs.

6. Film - Prince was a visionary in that he recognized early in his career that film is an excellent medium to reach a larger audience. He released five albums that were connected to films.
  • Purple Rain is connected to the eponymously-titled film.
  • He also did the music for Purple Rain's sequel, Grafitti Bridge.
  • Parade was the soundtrack for his starring vehicle, Under The Cherry Moon.
  • He did the music for Spike Lee's Girl 6.
  • He also handled the eclectic soundtrack for Tim Burton's 1989 Blockbuster filmBatman.
  • He released a concert film, "Sign O the Times," which featured live versions of the songs from the album of the same title.
Purple Rain and Batman were Multi-Platinum sellers. Parade went Platinum. Grafitti Bridgereached Gold sales.

7.  Raw Sexuality: Before his conversion to Jehovah's Witnesses, Prince wrote and performed some of the raciest, raunchiest songs in all of pop music. His 1984 song "Darling Nikki" was the inciting event for Tipper Gore to create the Parents Media Resource Center, the organization that would later usher in the use of the Parental Advisory stickers on all music with explicit content. "Darling Nikki" is No. 1 on their "Filthy Fifteen" list, the fifteen songs they felt were "most objectionable" at the time. No. 2 on their list is Sheena Easton's "Sugar Walls," which Prince wrote. Both earned notoriety for sexually explicit lyrics. That's just a rough idea of what Prince's music was all about.

Beyond the music, Prince made sexuality a part of his image. It's something of a paradox: he is virile and masculine, yet somewhat androgynous. Observe the cover of his 1988 album Lovesexy, where a naked Prince suggestively stretches out like a female model in a painting. Men and women alike, he defies you to look at his nude form.

8 . Prince Net Worth.

Prince Net Worth

Net Worth:$300 Million

Prince is an American singer, songwriter, musician, and actor with an estimated net worth of $300 million.
Prince’s music style has been influenced by rock, R&B, soul, New Wave, electronica, disco, funk, folk, jazz, rap, blues, psychedelia, and hip hop. Prince (real name Prince Rogers Nelson) grew up in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Prince released his first album For You on April 17, 1978. Prince’s self-titled album, Prince, in October 1979, catapulting him to fame with two top hits.
During a drawn out confrontation with his then recording company, Prince went by an unpronounceable symbol as his name, and also at that time known as The Artist Formerly Known as Prince. The recording artist reportedly has several hundred unreleased songs in his catalog. Prince founded his own label and recording studios Paisley Park Records and NPG Records, self-producing, writing, and playing most, if not all, of the instruments on his recordings. Prince has won a Golden Globe, seven Grammy Awards, and an Academy Award during his career.

9. Controversy - Prince seems to court controversy, and it constantly keeps him in the news. When Justin Timberlake's "SexyBack" dominated the charts, Prince publicly stated that "Sexy never left," starting a rivalry between him and JT (ironic since JT was a Prince fan). He has threatened legal action against YouTube and E-Bay. His explicit music, movies, music videos and outrageous fashion sense have upset many people over the years. As a staunch Jehovah's Witness, he has become a vocal advocate for a religion that is a constant source of controversy. These are just some of the controversies that make him all the more compelling. His fans and critics always wonder what he's going to do next. It's fitting that "Controversy" was the title of one of his successful songs and albums.

10. Elite Musician: Any discussion about Prince should begin with the fact that his is an incredibly talented musician. Though he is widely recognized as a gifted vocalist and guitarist, he is also an accomplished pianist/keyboardist, drummer, bassist and saxophonist. He played all instruments on his first two albums, For You and Prince. He is a great composer and songwriter. And much like James Brown and other great live R&B performers, he can dance really we

WHY NICKI SHOULD JOIN THE EMPIRE SEASON THREE CAST!

Nicki should most definitely join the Empire cast
After the amazing performance of Nicki in the newly released Barbershop 3 , The next cut, its obvious that she is not just a rapper seeking attention, but a fully fledged actress who can put up a show and act any role she wants. In the movie, Nicki shines more than the rest of the crew except some of the creme de la crèmes such as Ice Cube and Anthony Anderson.

WHY SHE SHOULD JOIN...
First, Nicki is no regular celebrity, she is totally dynamic in her personality,her style and obviously her whole career. Some people will go ahead and say she is not qualified but, they are wrong. Nicki has been in three successful movies today, since she made her debut in Ice Age, to The Other Woman alongside Leslie Mann and Cameron Diaz, and now Barbershop The Next Cut. Her performances are filled with decorum and poise. She is always the sassy diva just as she potrays Lydia in ,The Other Woman, which was madly successful by the way, according to Box Office ;
"The film was a box office hit earning over five times its production costs. The Other Woman opened at number 1 in North America on April 25, 2014 in 3,205 theaters debuting atop the weekend box office with earnings of $24.7 million across the three days. [27] The film has grossed $83,911,193 in America and $112,870,000 in other countries for a worldwide total of $196,781,193." After Nicki promoted to her loyal fans and as the rest of the people were itching to see her debut as an actress. Wait... Is that not enough, this year Nicki is in the successful comedy of the sequel of the 2003 hit movie, which by the way is successful already. Also Nicki has an upcoming biographical series on ABC 'Nicki', and she is the Executive Producer. She is over qualified.
Second, Nicki is totally sarcastic and spanky, to top it all off she studied acting as a profession. I go crazy by imaging the energy and spark that will be in the third season of the hit series if she is put together with COOKIE...
Third, let's all agree, the second season has been a slight flop than people's expectations. As a matter of fact the Executive Producer, Lee Daniels agreed. But with this tiny adjustment, trust me, the show's former glory will be restored.

10. Saint west - $ 50K

Not only did dad Kanye just announce an upcoming kid’s clothing collection on Twitter on Tuesday (Kanye is also set to debut season three of his clothing line at New York Fashion Week); the two-month old is already being lavished with gifts from some of the world’s most in-demand designers. The proof? A snap of a customized bomber jacket for Saint West gifted by Ralph Lauren, which Kim shared with her 60 million followers on Instagram on Tuesday night.
"Thank you Mr. Ralph Lauren for making Saint this little jacket," she captioned the photo, which also included a handwritten, personalized note from Ralph. "It’s so special! We will cherish it forever! #ItsRalphThough."
Saint isn’t the only Kardashian-West member scoring threads in time for fashion week. Kim also offered a sneak peek at her new loot from her pal Olivier Rousteing, creative director of Balmain, including an assortment of dresses and waist-cinching belts. Keep an eye out for this best-dressed mother-son duo in the front rows at fashion week.

9. Kennedy Armstrong-90K

Taylor Armstrong of the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills threw her daughter a $60,000 tea party birthday, at the Houdini Mansion in Beverly Hills for her birthday. The tea party was fit for royalty and came complete with expensive china cups, floating tea pots and gorgeous flowers. Armstrong is famous for throwing fancy celebrity affairs, so it’s not shocking that she would take her flair for extravagant and her love of attention and turn it on for her daughter’s special day. Armstrong has told reporters that she threw an over-the-top party for her kid because people expect that sort of over-the-top behavior from a real housewife.

8. Navyid and Usher V -$ 100K

 post

On his first birthday (which he surely doesn’t remember), Navyid, the boy of Usher had an amazing Aladdin-themed party.
The party featured magic carpet seatings, camel rides, face painting and henna tattoos. But how is an 1-year old supposed to have fun? I think the henna tattoos were more for the parents, than for the kids.
We hope Usher took at least some good photos, so Naviyd will be able to see what a top class party he had.
7. North West-$ 200K

With parents like Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, we knew North West was bound to have a fancy life even before she emerged from the womb… But I don’t think we were quite prepared for just how insane things would get.
From thousands of dollars in jewelry to one-of-a-kind designer outfits and a walk-in closet to boot, little Nori might just have the most lavish lifestyle of any one-year-old on the planet.
According to US Weekly, the famous tot has over 200 pieces of designer clothing–some of which she’s never even worn.  Items include a $375 silk Oscar de la Renta Dress, a $200 leopard viscose frock fromRoberto Cavalli, an Alexander Wang leather dress andGiuseppe Zanotti custom-made shoes.
And you know those little earrings North is always rocking?  They’re a pair of $50,000 half-carat diamonds from Lorraine Schwartz.
“Kim and Kanye are grateful when designers send them some pieces,” a source tells the publication.  “North loves clothes and getting ready to go out.  It’s a lot of fun.”
The parents are also building a walk-in closet in their new mansion to keep all of Nori’s pricey belongings safe, but they refuse to leave her stuff at home when they travel.  Instead, they make sure to maintain the one-year-old’s lavish lifestyle wherever they are, buying five $940 Orbit Baby G2 strollers to keep at each of their most-visited places–including one in Paris, New York and at each one of Kim’s sisters’ homes.
Kimye also makes sure their daughter’s all-white nurseryand her $3,950 crib is “replicated wherever they stay,” the source claims.  “All of North’s stuff is always waiting at the location they’re traveling to.”
For example, on their recent trip to Paris for Fashion Week, Kim and Kayne booked North and her nanny their own penthouse suite at Le Royal Monceau to accommodate the baby’s needs.
Oh! And let’s not forget: The parents all made sure Nori had her own chef during the stay.  “They use a local caterer to bring in food for North while she is in Paris.  Kim likes Nori’s food to be all organic.”
6. Suri cruise -$ 800K

We all know Suri Cruise has expensive taste and who’s to blame her? With parents like Tom Cruise andKatie Holmes spoiling her with princess dresses and$25,000 tiaras, it is no wonder the little lady acts like royalty! From Crewcuts’ leopard print flats to $750 Armani gowns, Suri has it all — and more! Check out some of the most expensive items from her wardrobe!
While other celebrity kids like Violet Affleck are running around in T-shirts and leggings, Suri dresses to impress wherever she goes. How can we forget herpink flamenco gown? Or the $635 Holmes And Yang dress that she owns in red, white, blue and green? Shoes, bags, headbands, jewelry — you name it, Suri’s got it!
And the fashionista not only picks out her own wardrobe, but her mom’s as well! “Suri is very helpful,” Katie said on Regis & Kelly in September. “I go to her and I say, ‘What shoes?’ She picks them out. One time, actually many times, I’ll be getting ready for an event or something and I’ll say, ‘Suri what do you think?’ And she’ll say [Katie points] ‘Definitely those. Those,’” Katie explained. “And she won’t let me leave unless I’m wearing what she wants me to wear. She’s got great taste. And I want to make her happy.”
Well, if a million-dollar wardrobe can make a 4-year-old happy, then we bet Suri is always smiling! Check out her designer duds!
5. Blue Ivy Carter- $ 1.5M
,
What do you get the newborn that has everything?Beyonce and Jay-Z have lavished Blue Ivy with $1.5 million worth of gifts including a $15,000 crystal-studded highchair and a $285 silk burping dress!  “Everybody has been showering them with gifts and calling them,” a music industry source told the NY Daily News.
Blue’s nursery proves she’s definitely a rap-royalty princess. According to the NY Post, the tot has some pricey swag:
  • A $600,00 solid gold, handmade rocking horse from Japanese jeweler Ginza Tanaka
  • $19,995 Fantasy Carriage crib from PoshTots
  • $15,000 Swarovski crystal-studded highchair designed by Carla Monchen
  • $285 Jean Paul Gaultier silk dress to burp on
These and other over-the-top gifts have set the Carters back a cool $1.5 million! The couples’ famous pals have also showered Blue with gifts. Oprah Winfreysent a trunk of children’s books, and Kelly Rowlandpurchased a Bob Marley onesie and several $300 cashmere blankets.
“Jay-Z and Beyonce are talking about having a small party to show close friends and family their daughter in the next week or so,” the source said.
Do you think that’s a ridiculous amount of money to spend on a baby?
4. Valentina Paloma Pingult- $12M

Valentina Paloma Pinault, though still a kid, already has the perfect combination of wealth and beauty. The wealth part is provided by her father, Francois-Henri Pinault, the Chief Executive Officer of PPR, a company engaged in luxury goods. The beauty part comes from her mother, Salma Hayek, the busty Mexican goddess acclaimed for both her acting and smoldering looks. Valentina already vacations in St. Barts, the playground of the rich and famous. She also has a $12 million estate being held in trust until she becomes an adult.

3. Dannielynn Marshall- $ 59M

Almost everybody believed that Howard K. Stern was the father of Anna Nicole Smith’s uber cute daughter Dannielynn Hope Marshall Stern. Born in September 2006, Stern argued that the timing of her pregnancy coincides with their relationship. However, after a lengthy legal battle, it was revealed that Larry Birkhead, fashion and entertainment photographer, was the real father of Dannielynn as proven by DNA tests. Right after the news broke out, OK! immediately offered $2 million for the the girl’s first photos with her real father, Larry.

2. Knox and Vivienne Jolie Pit-$ 67.5M

When Angelina Jolie announced that she was expecting twins in March 2008, people could hardly contain their excitement. After giving birth to Knox Leon and Vivienne Marcheline Jolie-Pitt in August of the same year, many entertainment magazines placed their bids to secure the exclusive photos of the children. People and Hello!magazines teamed up and offered a colossal $14 million for the photos. The money was then donated to the Jolie-Pitt Foundation.
1. Prince George Alexander Louis- $ 1 Billion

Prince George Alexander Louis is not even two years old and he’s already a billionaire. That’s because George Alexander is the son of Prince William and Kate Middleton. George Alexander is third in line to the throne in the United Kingdom, and being a royal obviously has its perks.
The Crown Estate is set in place for those who are in line to the throne and that alone will give Prince George Alexander more than $5 billion in property assets. He will also receive $400 million per year in other assets to make sure that he is well taken care of over the course of his life. There will be a lot of pressure on the billionaire baby as he grows up in front of the public’s eye, so we’ll see if he handles it as well as his father did.

FAKING IT GETS CANCELLED AFTER THE THIRD SEASON!!

FAKING IT WILL NOT BE COMING BACK TO MTV!

Fans will have to say goodbye to MTV’s
Faking It after the season-three finale next week. Show creator Carter Covington revealed the show would not be renewed for another run.
Sad news this morning. For all the #FakingIt fans out there, we're so grateful you loved this show as much as we did https://t.co/x3gihbkGt6 — Carter Covington (@mrcartaire) May 13, 2016
140 characters is not enough to express how I feel about this news. I promise #FakingIt fans I'll share what was to come after finale airs — Carter Covington (@mrcartaire) May 13, 2016
The show broke new ground for teen comedies in 2014 by building the plot around a same-sex relationship between BFFs Karma and Amy (Katie Stevens and Rita Volk, respectively).
Openly gay character Shane (Michael J. Willett) also pursued some pretty steamy romances—especially with season two’s Duke (Skyler Maxon).

Art has the ability to change the world. And in some way, we did. Never the same. Never forget. #fakingitforever — Michael Willett (@misterwillett) May 13, 2016

Faking It also featured TV’s first intersex role played by an intersex actor, Amanda Saenz. Transgender actress Laverne Cox even had a special guest role on the series.
MTV has the rights to the show, so Covington doesn’t expect a revival in the future. But he hoped the show’s push for more LGBT diversity will impact other shows on the network.

JUSSIE SMOLETT QUITS EMPIRE!!!

GOODBYE JAMAL! GOODBYE JUSSIE
Empire previews leading up to Wednesday’s episode warned viewers that no Lyon was safe.
But fans were still shocked to see Jamal (Jussie Smollett) take a bullet for his mogul father Luscious (Terrence Howard). Especially after earlier in the episode when Luscious turns vicious on his gay son, saying, "The day you die from AIDS, I'm gonna celebrate."
The season’s penultimate episode ended with Jamal raced into
Smollett stocked fears that this may be the end for Jamal after posting a tweet Thursday that sounded like a goodbye to the show.
I've thoroughly enjoyed my time w/ @EmpireFOX . I love you all. Truth. Time 2 make a record & some movies. #Empire pic.twitter.com/xeCONIhAlE — Jussie Smollett
(@JussieSmollett) May 12, 2016 However, in Fox's description of next week's season finale, "Past is Prologue," Jamal is set to make an appearance.
"After a life-changing experience, Jamal refuses to make music until his family ends its seemingly endless cycle of violence and fighting,"
the site says.
Does that hint at an end to Smollett's run on the show?
The 32-year-old openly gay performer and Out cover star tweeted from Sydney, where he's filming for Alien: Covenant .
